In the Lisbon airport after our flight and after breezing through customs, we got our luggage. Bri told me to try to figure out where the dogs were while he waited at the baggage claim.
I walked up to a person at a desk, asked if they spoke English, she said yes and told me where to go for my dogs. It was a gray door that had a dog sign on it. It was also an exit only door.
There was no one at this door and it was just like a door... Like I didn't know if someone was supposed to come out or I was supposed to go in. There were two buttons by the door. One was red and one was blue. I knew the red one was bad so I decided to push the blue one thinking that it would alert someone to my presence at the door.
Boy did it ever. An alarm started going off in the airport! Everyone looked at me but continued on their way like nothing was going on. The alarm stopped sounding like 30 seconds later; however, the above lights kept flashing.
About 5-10 minutes later Bri arrived and shortly after did airport security! They accused Brian of pushing the button but I quickly corrected them and said I did it. All of them were speaking Portuguese so I didn't understand what they were saying. We asked one of the dudes, "Voce fala ingles?" and he said he spoke some. But he was fluent!
They got my name and address of where we were staying, my visa numbers, all that stuff. We had a nice conversation with the dude who spoke English. They let me go saying don't do it again. Oh, I won't!
They were probably thinking another dumb American.
